Setting Search Filters to Find "The One"
4 June 2026 - 5 min read - The KeepItHalal Team
Filters are powerful - but only if you use them with intention. Here is how to set them without filtering out your future spouse.
Search filters are one of the most underrated tools in matrimonial apps. Done right, they protect your time. Done wrong, they shrink your options so far that nothing lands.
Start with the non-negotiables
- Sect and core beliefs.
- Marital status (single, divorced, widowed).
- Children - already or wanting them.
- Practice level you can build a home with.
Then add the strong preferences
- Age range - be generous, especially upwards.
- Distance - pick a radius you would actually relocate within.
- Education and profession - only if it genuinely matters to you.
Filters that often backfire
Height ranges that exclude entire countries. Income brackets that filter out students. Ethnicities you've never lived among. Pause before tightening these - qadr does not always look like you expected.
Trust filters worth turning on
- ID-verified only, for extra peace of mind.
- A distance you could realistically travel or relocate within.
- An age range that leaves room for the right person.
Fine-tune your search now.
