Law enforcement requests.

Last updated 7 September 2026.

This page is for law enforcement agencies and other public authorities seeking information from Keep It Halal Ltd. Members of the public should use our contact form or the in-app reporting tools instead.

Where to send a request

Email legal@keepithalal.com from an official government or police email address, with your request attached as a signed PDF on headed paper.

Postal address: Keep It Halal Ltd, Legal Requests, PO Box 6945, Unit 154629, London, W1A 6US, United Kingdom.

Please mark emergency requests with "EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST" in the subject line. We aim to acknowledge routine requests within 5 working days and emergency requests as quickly as possible, day or night.

What to include

  • The issuing agency, officer name, badge or warrant card number, and a direct contact number.
  • The legal basis for the request and the offence under investigation.
  • Identifiers for the account: the registered email address, profile display name, phone number, or in-app user ID. Requests without a specific identifier cannot be actioned.
  • The precise date and time range for the records sought (with time zone).
  • A response deadline and the address for secure delivery of the records.

Legal process we require

  • UK authorities: a valid request under the Data Protection Act 2018 (Schedule 2, Part 1) or the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, or a court order.
  • Non-UK authorities: a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) request, letter rogatory, or an order enforceable in the United Kingdom.
  • Content of communications (for example chat messages) requires a court order or warrant, except in a genuine emergency.

Emergency disclosure

Where we believe in good faith that there is an immediate risk of death or serious physical harm — for example a child at risk, human trafficking, or a credible threat to life — we may disclose the limited information necessary to prevent that harm without waiting for legal process. Emergency requests must describe the emergency, the harm at risk and why the information is needed urgently.

Data preservation

We will preserve account records for 90 days pending legal process on receipt of a formal preservation request, and can extend once on request. Preservation does not disclose any data.

What we hold

Depending on the account, we may hold registration details, profile information, IP and device data, verification records, purchase history, reports and moderation records, and chat content. Data is retained in line with our Privacy Policy; deleted accounts are removed and may no longer be recoverable.

Notice to members

Our policy is to notify members about requests for their information before disclosure, so they may contest it, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or where notice would create a risk of harm — including cases involving child sexual exploitation, trafficking or a threat to life.

Reporting child safety or trafficking concerns

Suspected child sexual exploitation and human trafficking are handled as top priority under our Acceptable Use Policy. Email legal@keepithalal.com and we will respond urgently. In an immediate emergency in the UK, call 999.
