Content & Account Takedown Notice.

Last updated 12 September 2026.

Keep It Halal is a marriage-intent introduction service for adults aged 18 and over. Members create their own profile and can view and message other members once both sides agree to a match. Because members create their own content, we operate the documented takedown process below. It forms part of our Terms of Service and enforces our Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines.

1. What members can do on the platform

  • Members create a personal profile: a nickname, age, location area, marital status, occupation, a short bio, interests, photos and an optional intro video.
  • Members can view other members' profiles in Discover and send a match request. Photos, real names, videos and social details stay hidden until both people choose to reveal.
  • Members can send private messages only inside a mutual match. There is no public posting, no public comments and no open browsing by non-members.
  • A sister may invite a guardian (Wali) to observe one conversation read-only. A Wali cannot message, match or act on any profile.
  • Every photo, intro video and message is screened automatically before it becomes visible to another member, and can be reported by any member afterwards.

2. How to report a policy-violating profile or content

Anyone can report content. There are four routes, all of which reach the same queue:

  • In-app, on a profile: open the profile, tap the overflow menu, then Report. Choose a reason (fake profile, harassment, nudity or sexual content, scam or solicitation, contact-detail abuse, under 18, trafficking or exploitation, other) and add details.
  • In-app, in a conversation: swipe a chat row or open the conversation menu and tap Report. The reported messages are captured with the report.
  • In-app Safety Centre: Profile → Safety, which holds report, block, appeal and guidance links in one place.
  • By email, including from non-members: Support@keepithalal.com. Please include the nickname or profile link, what you saw and when.

Reporting immediately hides the reported member from the reporter, and blocking is available in the same step. No report is needed to block. Child sexual exploitation, trafficking and credible threats of violence are handled as emergencies and can also be raised through our law enforcement page.

3. How our team reviews a submitted report

  • Logged. Every report creates a case in one internal moderation queue with the reporter, the reported account, the reason, the captured content and a timestamp. Automated safety flags from photo, video and message screening enter the same queue.
  • Triaged. Cases involving minors, sexual exploitation, trafficking, non-consensual imagery or threats of violence are escalated to the top of the queue and the content is withheld from other members while under review. Other cases are reviewed in order, and we aim to reach a first decision within 24 hours and always within 72 hours.
  • Assessed by a person. A trained moderator reviews the reported content, the account's history, prior warnings and any related reports against our Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines. Automated screening can hold or hide content, but no account is permanently banned by automation alone.
  • Decided and recorded. The moderator records an outcome of cleared or actioned, with reasoning, against the case. The audit trail is retained for safety, appeal and legal-compliance purposes.
  • Communicated. The reporter is told the case was reviewed and closed. An actioned member is notified of what was removed or restricted, which rule was broken, and how to appeal.

4. Actions we take

  • Remove a photo, intro video, bio, profile answer or message.
  • Reject a photo or video at moderation so it never becomes visible.
  • Issue a formal warning; repeat offences escalate automatically to review for suspension.
  • Close a conversation and permanently separate the two accounts.
  • Suspend an account pending further information, such as identity verification.
  • Permanently ban the account and delete the profile. Bans are immediate and without warning for child sexual exploitation or abuse, trafficking, any indication the account holder is under 18, or credible threats of violence.
  • Refer the case to law enforcement and preserve the relevant records where the law requires or permits it.

Removal of purchased services follows our refunds policy. Members banned for the zero-tolerance categories above are not entitled to a refund.

5. How a reported member appeals a removal or ban

  • Notice. When content is removed or an account is restricted, the member is told which rule was applied and what the outcome was.
  • Submit an appeal. In the app: Profile → Safety → Appeals, where every warning and report against the account is listed with an appeal button. Members who cannot sign in appeal by emailing Support@keepithalal.com from their account email address.
  • Window. Appeals can be submitted at any time, and we ask for them within 30 days of the decision so the underlying content is still available for review.
  • Second review. The appeal is reviewed by a different staff member from the one who made the original decision. They look again at the content, the member's statement and the case history.
  • Outcome. We respond within 14 days, usually sooner. An upheld appeal restores the content or the account and clears the warning from the record. A rejected appeal is explained. The appeal and its outcome are recorded on the case.
  • Limits. Bans for child sexual exploitation or abuse, trafficking, or being under 18 are final and are not reinstated on appeal. Members in the UK and EU keep their statutory rights and may raise a complaint with their local authority.
