We use a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies (local storage on your device) to make Keep It Halal work, and — only if you agree — to understand how the site is used. Nothing non-essential is set before you choose. This page mirrors the data practices set out in our privacy policy.

Essential
Always on, and set under our legitimate interest in running a secure service — not consent, because the site cannot work without them.
- Sign-in session (set by our authentication provider, Supabase) — keeps you signed in and refreshes your session. Cleared when you sign out; otherwise expires within a year.
- kih-cookie-consent — local storage holding your cookie choice and the time you made it, so we do not ask again. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
- Security and abuse protection (Cloudflare) — short-lived checks that block bots and repeated abusive requests.
Analytics
Off unless you turn them on. Aggregate page-view counts so we can see which pages are useful. No advertising identifiers, no cross-site or cross-app tracking, no profiles, and nothing shared with an ad network. Analytics records are kept in aggregate for up to 14 months.
Marketing
Off by default. If you switch it on, we only measure how people found our own campaigns (for example which link brought you here). We do not run third-party ad networks, we do not build advertising profiles, and we never sell your data. Kept for up to 12 months.
What cookies are never used for
Cookies are never used to read your profile, photos, verification media, messages or contact hashes. Those are described in the privacy policy and are governed by your account settings, not by cookie consent.
In the mobile apps
The iOS and Android apps do not use advertising SDKs or tracking cookies. They store your session and preferences locally on the device, and any purchase or push permissions are asked for separately in the app.
Your choice, and how it syncs
On your first visit you'll see a banner where you can accept all, reject non-essential, or use Manage preferences to switch analytics and marketing on or off separately. Rejecting is one click and carries the same weight as accepting.
We record what you chose and when. If you are signed in, that record is stored against your account (with the browser user-agent string, so we can show you where a choice was made) and follows you to every device you sign in on — change it in one place and it applies everywhere. If you are not signed in, it stays on the device only, and clearing your browser storage for our domain resets it and brings the banner back.
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it: use the button above, or the cookie link in the footer, at any time. Your consent record is deleted along with the rest of your data if you delete your account.
