Community Guidelines.

Last updated 12 August 2026.

Keep It Halal is a marriage-intent introduction service for Muslims. These Community Guidelines explain the behaviour we expect from everyone who uses the website or apps, how to report problems, and how we enforce the rules. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not accept these guidelines, please do not use the Service.

Questions, reports and appeals can be sent to support@keepithalal.com or raised through the in-app support tools.

Our purpose

The Service is designed to help Muslims find a spouse in a respectful, modest and safe environment. Everything we do — from the 3-day chat rule to Wali observation, verification and moderation — is meant to protect that purpose. Behaviour that treats the platform as a casual dating app, or that undermines the dignity of other members, is not allowed.

What we expect

  • Be truthful. Use accurate information about your age, marital status, location and intentions. Do not impersonate another person or create multiple accounts.
  • Be respectful. Treat every member with the dignity you would expect for a sibling. No insults, harassment, threats, slurs, intimidation or pressure to move off-platform.
  • Be modest. Keep conversation appropriate for a marriage-intent introduction. Sexual content, nudity, lewd language and sexual solicitation are prohibited.
  • Be patient. The 3-day rule, reveal limits and other timers exist to give everyone time to assess character before appearance or contact details are shared. Do not try to bypass them.
  • Be responsible. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your login details secure and report anything suspicious.

What is not allowed

The following will result in content removal, warnings, suspension or permanent banning, depending on severity and repetition:

  • Hate speech, abuse, harassment, stalking or threats of any kind.
  • Sexually explicit content, nudity, sexual solicitation or sexual harassment.
  • Sharing personal data about another person without their consent.
  • Promoting violence, extremism, illegal activity or self-harm.
  • Spam, scams, phishing, impersonation or fraud.
  • Attempts to move communication, payments or identity verification outside the Service.
  • Using the Service if you are under 18, or if you have been permanently banned.
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade restrictions, mislead others or game the matching system.
  • Reverse engineering, scraping, automated matching or other abuse of the platform's systems.

Photos, videos and profile content

All photos, intro videos and profile text must meet the same standards. We do not allow nudity, sexual imagery, violence, hate symbols, weapons, drug paraphernalia, or content that could identify someone else without their permission. Photos and videos are screened automatically before they become visible, and our moderation team may review flagged content. You keep ownership of your content, but you grant us the licence we need to host, display and moderate it.

Matching and chat

Matching and chat are governed by the product rules shown in the app, including the 3-day conversation window, reveal rules, skip limits and Wali observation. You may not:

  • Send repeated unwanted messages after someone has indicated they are not interested.
  • Attempt to share phone numbers, social handles, email addresses, payment links or other off-platform contact details before the rules allow it.
  • Screenshot, screen-record or photograph chat screens or revealed photos without the other person's consent.
  • Pressure another member into revealing photos, contact details or personal information.

Wali observation

A sister may invite a Wali (chaperone) to observe a conversation in read-only mode. Walis must create their own account, accept the invitation and follow these guidelines. Wali accounts are not for dating, matching or messaging. A Wali can only see the conversations they are invited to and must not share what they see outside that chaperone role.

How to report

If you see behaviour that breaks these guidelines, you can report it directly from the profile, chat or content in question. You can also email support@keepithalal.com. Please include as much detail as possible, including the member's nickname, what happened and when.

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, not just automated systems. In urgent cases involving serious harm or safety, we may take immediate protective action while the review is completed.

How moderation works

Our moderation team may take the following actions, depending on the offence and the member's history:

  • Warning — a formal notice that the behaviour must stop.
  • Content removal — removing a photo, video, message or profile text.
  • Feature restriction — limiting matching, chat, media uploads or other features for a set period.
  • Suspension — temporary loss of access to the Service.
  • Permanent ban — removal of access and account closure. Banned members may not create new accounts.

We may also report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at our discretion if we believe it is necessary to protect the community.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, you can appeal through the in-app Appeals section or by emailing support@keepithalal.com. Appeals are reviewed by a person who was not involved in the original decision. We aim to respond within seven working days, but complex cases may take longer. The full process is documented in our Content & Account Takedown Notice.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time. The latest version will always be posted here with the date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated guidelines.
